Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar visited Barrackpore BJP MP Arjun Singh in hospital on Monday who was injured in a clash between BJP supporters and Police in the streets of his constituency. Governor later commented that he is worried about Arjun Singh as well as law and order situation in the State. He said Bengal needs a peaceful atmosphere and people should believe in the rule of law and peace and avoid violence.
However, Trinamool felt that the comments were meant to embarrass the ruling government. A senior Minister asserted that the Governor should have gathered the police reports before visiting Singh and making any comments. Police are blaming Singh and BJP hoodlums for the scuffle and unrest.
