West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) along with the Kolkata police, going to take strict action against those who violate noise norms during Kalipuja and Diwali. The penalty for breaking the law can go up to Rs 1 lakh and there would be five years imprisonment. This year noisy Diwali celebration may land you in jail. Firecrackers are prohibited within 100m of Raj Bhawan, hospitals, academic institutions and courts. The noise level must be less than 90dB.
